Levon Aronian refused to come to Baku
Few days ago FIDE vice-president Georgios Makropulos was in Baku and met president of federation Elman Rustamov and youth and sport minister Azad Ragimov. Azerbaijan gave warranties of safety and obligation that all rules will be done in high level.
But Aronian refused to come to Baku anyway and FIDE took decision to divide matches of candidates. Four chess masters will play in Baku, other four in other country. By the way Armenian chess federation president and the head of country Serj Sarkisian put forward his country as a candidate.
This time Azerbaijan refused. Congress decided that the second part of Match will hold on any country besides Armenia. FIDE accepted Azerbaijan conditions and allowed our country to put out his nominate on match of candidates.
Perhaps two Azerbaijani chess masters will take part in Match. In this case they will perform separately.
It is not clear why Aronian refused to come to Baku. Armenian sportsmen didn’t have any problems in Azerbaijan. But Aronian said his word and FIDE divided matches of candidates that will take place at the end of 2010.
