Football fans disgusted at lack of international coverage
Frustrated England armchair football fans who lost interest in Gareth Southgate's half-time opinions of the England V Egypt friendly on ITV, turned to the internet to check out the scores of other international games but were disgusted by the lack of information concerning the match between Luxembourg and Azerbaijan.
The big clash between the two teams ranked 126th and 109th in the world respectively, was set to kick off at 19.00 hours GMT but as no updates were given in the list of scores on BBC, Sky Sports and William Hills Live Betting, fans were left in the dark as to if the game had actually taken place at all.
Googling 'Luxembourg v Azerbaijan' produced no further information apart from an interesting article on an Armenian news website which revealed FC Twente forward, Vagif Javadov, was ready to start trainingsagain. Simples.
Worried fans immediately began to expect the worst.
Had there been a massive earthquake in the Grand Duchy causing mass devastation to the land-locked country of the Luxembourgers?
Had the banks of the Alzette burst after weeks of torrential rain, leading to mass flooding of the 175th largest country in the world and drowning its population of less than 500,000?
Or had the Azerbaijainy team bus got lost en route after taking a wrong left turn in Moldova and ending up in Lithuania by mistake?
Luckily none of the above happened. Just after Peter Crouch scored his first goal for England, the BBC website refreshed itself and the full time score was updated with a 2-1 victory to the men from the Caucasus region of Eurasia.
